Dockage space is filling fast for the fall season, so please call Macuto at 58-414-130-4064 ASAP if you would like to make a reservation. And if you have spoken to one of us but have not yet sent in your deposit check, please remember that your reservation cannot be confirmed until we acknowledge receipt of both a signed contract and your deposit.
Also, if you would like to rent a room or an apartment for your crew (or for yourself) for some or all of the season, please let us know right away so we can start searching for the space you need. It would be best if you could email us your apartment requirements to avoid transcription (or translation!) errors......

The fishing slowed down a bit yesterday, but to "cut to the chase" Joropo won the Shootout (after losing a turbo and dropping out of the second day's fishing!), with Camaiguana second and Tropi King third. In our opinion, no matter what the points total said, William Morrison was the ganador.
Congratulations to all the entrants. We hope to see you here at Marina Portofino next year!

The fishing, or at least the catching, improved for almost all of the Shootout competitors yesterday, as approximately 40 billfish were released versus only 11 on the first day. Vintage appeared to have the most flags flying entering the laguna, but Camaiguana had another good day and remains on top of the leader board. The biggest buzz on the dock, however, was about William Morrison's individual Super Grand Slam aboard the Tropi King, which will net him a cool $25,000 cash prize at the closing banquet this evening. We wonder what the insurance premium will be next year?

South Fishing's Shootout Tournament began yesterday with a relatively slow day (at least for Venezuela.) Camaiguana and Joropo are at the top of the leader board at the moment with 3 releases each. But much more is to come in the next two days of fishing, we hope! Good luck to all of the competitors!

Cecelia Gibson stopped by to advise us that the Sixth Annual Venezuelan International Grand Slam Billfish Tournament will be held October 10-13 this year. The fishing days are the 11th through the 13th.
This year's event will be headquartered at the new Hotel Ole´ Caribe in Macuto, despite our efforts to convince her to base the competition here at Marina Portofino. Maybe next year, Cecelia?
You can email the Gibsons at High-Seas Events or call them at 305-230-0560.

The BudMan is back, and Mr. Perlstein is on his way to Caraballeda as this is being written. We hope to get a detailed fishing report from him when he returns to the US next week.

We're working on a complete redesign of this web site, and have moved all of these pages to www.MarinaPortofino.com. Please bookmark this page instead of the old Flash page, as the automatic redirect will be removed from the old site eventually...

Happy New Year to all of our fishing friends.
The blue marlin bite is on, already. We're gearing up for an active Winter and Spring season, with the Bud Man and the PJ on their way to us soon, and others are coming as well. South Fishing's "Shootout Tournament" activities start March 12 (fishing dates are the 14-15-16 March), so come on down!
Please call Macuto at 58-414-130-4064 for dockage reservations.
